Sir Frank Brangwyn: a large Honiton Pottery jug reputedly designed by Sir Frank Brangwyn, decorated in a cream freehand pattern on mottled green ground together with a hand written letter signed by Frank Brangwyn and dated November 15 1930 from The Jointure, Ditchling, Sussex (his home at this time where he completed two of his most important mural commissions, The British Empire panels now in Swansea and The Rockefeller Centre panels, New York), the letter detailing aspects of the design and slip of pottery on two sides. Also included in this lot is a hand written letter from Joan Collard, the daughter of Charles Collard describing how Sir Frank Brangwyn sent sketches of pottery to Honiton and describing this vase as having been 'designed by Sir Frank Brangwyn' together with a small quantity of newspaper cuttings relating to Brangwyn. |
