A collection of early 20th century archival material relating to The Suffragette and Society For Equal Citizenship Movements collected in an album by one of the original members of the latter group, Miss M J Buchanan, the album containing several hand written letters and cards from Millicent Garrett Fawcett, a leading campaigner of the suffragette movement, photographs and signatures. The lot also includes a silver handled umbrella and locket belonging to Miss Buchanan.

Margaret Lloyd George: autograph letter hand written on 10 Downing Street note paper dated 20/11/18: "Dear Madam, I greatly regret delay in replying to your letter of the 7th but it has been quite impossible to get his autographs until today. I have now real pleasure in sending you two volumes and my best wishes for the success of your book auction and of your noble movement. Yours M Lloyd George (JJR)" (rust paper clip mark to top of page and fold to centre).

Gioachino Rossini: autograph letter signed Rossini to the composer Julius Benedict. The letter written in Italian was a form of introduction for Mademoiselle Paule Guyrard, daughter of the music publisher Antonio Pacini, recommending her as a pianist and showing him that her virtues will endear her to the English. Dated Paris 6 May 1865 (creasing along vertical fold).
